SEARCH

HM Coastguard is the only dedicated emergency service which provides a full search capability. Our primary role is maritime search and rescue but due to close working with the police, fire & rescue and ambulance service we are called upon to use our expertise in inland searches.

We also have the capability of calling upon and coordinating RNLI lifeboats in maritime and inland waterways and also the tasking of search & rescue helicopters who we work closely with for quick searching or deploying our search teams to other areas.

We can enable numerous coastguard rescue officers from our own team and also flank stations to create a strong search team with 4x4 capabilities and expertise from coastal searches to inland Land Search Planning. The key here is early alert so our probably detection is increased.

You will also find our search team members are not only highly trained in searching but have a vast local knowledge of the terrain as well as being highly trained in all aspects of map work, first aid, extraction of casualties from extreme terrain on stretchers and the ability to search and extract casualtes with our rope rescue equipment including cliff rescue and urban rope rescue.
